How the Re Met the De (Ren's Version)

I had been living in Old Waynesboro for six years before I met De. It was a good life, but it was lacking something. That summer of 2006, I decided to do something about it. With my life consumed by work and school, I signed up on "match.com"...

That same summer, De was finishing Physician Assistant school in Pittsburgh. She applied and interviewed for a job in Waynesboro with a small Family Practice. At the suggestion of her new boss, and because the social scene in Waynesboro is, to say the least, lacking, De signed up on "match.com", too...

One day, as I was looking at my "matches", I noticed that a girl had posted on her profile that she had worked with deadly viruses and stuff. This caught my attention right away because I wanted to work with deadly diseases. Nothing peaks my interest like Ebola. I clicked on a link to "wink" at her. And she winked back.

After a few e-mails back and forth, she gave me her phone number. I was nervous when I called her for the first time, so I drove around and around in the jeep. We talked about a lot of things. It went well. Later that week, I drove my little brother to Nebraska. De was finishing up things in Pittsburgh. I text-messaged her all the way over and back, updating her on my location.

A few more phone calls and a few more e-mails later, we set up a date. We were going to go out on a Saturday. However, the Wednesday before our date, I called De and asked her if she would be interested doing something that afternoon. She was studying for her boards, but she still took some time off to go out.

Our first date was at Borders Bookstore. We talked and talked and talked some more. It was like chatting with an old friend. We had some coffee and talked some more.

And the rest is, as they say, history... Our story.
